UFC308 | BETTING PREVIEW | BEST BETS
Hello my degenerate friends. Thankyou for joining me here for my UFC308 betting breakdown. We have a slight change to the usual layout from the weeks gone by. As instead of breaking down the main card, I’m going to give you not only my best plays for the card. But the ones I’ve actually bet on myself. So let’s get into it.
Now my first bet of the night is going to be the one I look at that will give me a good return, for the least amount of risk. A bit of a bank builder to keep the old bankroll healthy. As a professional handicapper, I don’t tend to play many flashy parlays. Especially in MMA. As we know that one moment in any fight, anyone can turn your lights out! But I will include a crazy play for you filthy animals at the bottom of this article. 😀
BET 1 – RINAT FAKHRETDINOV & MYKTYBEK OROLBAI BOTH TO WIN @ -115.
I absolutely love the value of this play. I am super high on both guys and they have favourable match ups here.
Rinat Fakhretdinov is riding a huge 21 fight winning streak into his 6th UFC fight. This man is dangerous. Rinat has fantastic grappling skills, and can control you for as long as he wants if you don’t have a decent grappling game. He’s relentless with his pressure, and he has the power and submission threat to turn your lights out.
His opponent Carlos Leal is coming in on short notice, and you might have seen him in the PFL promotion before. He’s incredibly tough and has never been finished in his pro career. Since his PFL stint, he has gone 2-0 in LFA. He’s no slouch. But he is outgunned here. Especially on short notice.
Myktybek Orolbai Is what people call a prospect in the UFC. I think he’s more than that based on his first 2 performances for the promotion. He is 2-0 in the UFC and 13-1 in his pro career. The Kyrgyzstan native has finished 11 of his 13 wins inside the distance. He is another very gifted grappler, but he also carries KO power in his hands. Which doesn’t bode well for his opponent Rebecki who is coming off a severe beating in his last fight to Diego Ferreira. Rebecki will be a danger in the 1st round as he starts fast. After that it’s a case of how and when Orolbai wins this fight. Thanks me later.
Next up, my favourite underdog bet of the card. It’s all about the co main event of the evening.
ROBERT WHITTAKER TO BEAT KHAMZAT CHIMAEV @ +200.
I had to scratch my head when the odds came out for this fight. Don’t get me wrong, neither guy is a bad fighter or anything. But it’s just the blatant disrespect from the bookies towards the former 185 champion in Robert Whittaker. It’s insane! I wasn’t expecting him to be the favourite per se. But a 2/1 underdog? Get the F out of here!
Khamzat Chimaev is legit. When he’s 100%, he’s superb and a total beast. My reason for back Whittaker is not only is The Reaper a world class fighter, we haven’t seen Khamzat at his best in years. Since 2022 at least. The last few years he’s fought once, beating Kamaru Usman, via a razor thin split decision. Usman took the fight on a few days notice and arguably won. Chimaev looked gassed in RD1 and 2 of that fight. This fight with Whittaker is 5 rounds. Robert Whittaker is on a full camp, has cardio for days, and has looked fantastic of late. An I haven’t even mentioned Khamzats 3 fights in 2 years that have been cancelled due to injury or illness. Back the Aussie to get it done, and cash the underdog ticket. At these odds it’s a great bet.
My next play for you is my “Prop play of the night”. This is always a tough one to crack as we have so many variables to consider. But I’ve found it!
MAGOMED ANKALAEV TO WIN BY KO @ +220.
Magomed Ankalaev is the man who many people including me, should have had a shot at Alex Pereira’s LHW title by now. The man is a total savage, and whilst he maybe isn’t the most exciting fighter in the division. He is more of a finisher than you think with 11 finishes in his 19 wins. I love him for a KO win here.
The danger from Aleksandar Rakic will come in RD1. That’s when he’s at his most dangerous. As we go into the 2nd and 3rd round Ankalaev will take over. Rakic is coming off a brutal KO loss to Jiri Prochazka last time out. An it was only back in April. So let’s see how he takes a shot from another big 205er. I’ll even be having a little sprinkle on Ankalaev via SUB @ a huge +1400 price. Worth a dabble. For sure. Plus, rumour has it that Dana White has told both guys to put on a show to secure a title shot next. That’s never a negative. BOOM 💥
So last but not least for you crazy longshot parlay people! Yes I’m included in that 😂 I’ve put together a slip below for you that pays +4200.
Don’t worry I didn’t simply throw darts at the sheet 😂. All of the above selections have legit routes to get the result we want. I want go into detail, but trust me. I don’t bet plays myself that have no chance of winning. That’s my bet ticket above. So sit back, enjoy the violence, and see if we get paid!
It’s going to be a fantastic night of action. Topped off with a main event that everyone’s pumped for. Gun to my head who wins the big one? I love Max Holloway, but I struggle to see him winning against Topuria. The champ is just to good, and to powerful. Plus he’s had a lot less wars than our guy Max.
Enjoy the violence.
