THE GOOSES EDGE | UFC SAUDI ARABIA
YO DEGENERINOS! 1st off, we got back in the green last week with a slight profit on the Vegas 93 card at The Apex. As always results below win or lose.
Now we head to Saudi Arabia for what is one of the best fight night cards we have had for years. Headlined by everyone’s favourite Kiwi born Aussie Robert Whittaker. As he takes on the surging Russian Ikram Aliskerov. Let’s get into it.
FELIPE LIMA TO BEAT MUHAMMAD NAIMOV @ -110
I do feel for Naimov in this spot. He’s had more changes of opponent on this card than I’ve had stints in rehab. But his latest opponent Felipe Lima is by far the hardest out he’s been faced with. The OktagonMMA champ steps in on short notice, but the All Stars training centre product is one of these guys who continually stays ready. Training with the likes of Alex Gustafsson, Khamzat Chimaev & Guram Kutateladze he’s going to be ready to shoot his shot. Whilst Naimov is on a good run, I thought he lost to Nathaniel Wood and in his last fight he only got the KO win cos Erik Silva injured his leg during the 1st round. Lima will be the smaller man stepping up to FW, but he will push the pace for every minute and hunt the finish. For me, Lima with the extra weight and no weight cut gets it done! After all, he’s an ALL STAR!
VOLKAN OEZDEMIR TO BEAT JOHNNY WALKER @ -110
I’ve a simple method when betting fights with Johnny Walker involved. If he’s fighting anyone who’s a former champion or a contender coming off a win, he gets beat. Ozedemir is solid and he comes in off a great win last time out against Bogdan Guskov. Couple that with the fact that Ozedemir is technically better just about everywhere, I think this price is a steal. Walker has one route to win. A KO. A wild one. Walker is coming off a KO loss to Ankalaev, and his chin wasn’t particularly great before that. It’s going to be a bad night for Johnny Walker fans. Unless it’s the whiskey with the same name you like!
DANIEL RODRIGUEZ TO BEAT KELVIN GASTELUM @ +187.
Now if Kelvin Gastelum turns up at his best he wins this fight. But after a week where he’s admitted he can’t make the weight at 170, questions have to be asked about his commitment to fighting this weekend. The fight will take place at a catch weight of 185. This was a close match up anyway, but now to me the price on D-Rod looks huge. I’m certainly willing to take a punt on a super durable guy with KO power, against a guy who’s known to underperform in Kelvin. Do not be shocked to see D-Rod getting his hand raised on Saturday night.
4 FIGHT PARLAY.
Team Robert Whittaker checking in! LFG!
Have a great weekend all! GOOSE OUT! 🪿🔥
