TAYLOR V SERRANO 3 | MSG, NEW YORK CITY.

This weekend the sport of boxing officially takes over New York City. As Jake Paul’s MVP promotions and Turki Alalshikh’s RING Magazine, both put on huge nights of boxing in the Big Apple. If you’re a fan of the sweet science, there is no city in the world you’d rather be in than the city that never sleeps.
We will start the weekends coverage on Friday with a trip to the one and only “Mecca of boxing”. Madison Square Garden is one of, if not the most famous venue for boxing in the world. It has hosted over 200 championship fights in its time. Ali v Frazier headlined in 1971, but this Friday it will be the turn of two legendary female fighters to top the bill. It will also be the first all female card at MSG, and have a total of 21 world championship belts on the line, over the course of 5 bouts!
KATIE TAYLOR V AMANDA SERRANO 3 – Undisputed Super Lightweight world titles.
Katie Taylor is arguably the greatest female boxer of all time. Of course the likes of her opponent Amanda Serrano , and Clarissa Shields would argue that point. But regardless no body can deny that Taylor is one of the best to ever do it and will retire a legend of the sport. Taylor has won countless world titles in various weight classes, with only 1 blemish on her record. A defeat against Chantelle Cameron in Dublin. A defeat she avenged just 6 months later. A win here will cement her dominance over Serrano, and put to bed any whispers that she was “gifted” a decision in Texas the last time these 2 met. I scored the 2nd fight for Serrano as did a number of other people.
Amanda Serrano is a superstar in her own right. She has held world titles in 7 different weight divisions, a feat that no other female fighter has accomplished. Serrano has a pro boxing record of 47 wins, 3 loses and 1 draw. Almost double the amount of fights than her rival Katie Taylor. She is 3 years younger than Taylor but turned pro at a young age only competing as a amateur 10 times, holding a record of 9-1. Unlike the decorated amateur career her foe Taylor had winning multiple world championships and a solo gold medal in the London 2012 Olympics before turning pro.
This fight on Friday as mentioned will be the last of a trilogy between the pair. It arguably holds more meaning for the challenger Serrano who will be looking to finally claim Taylors scalp. But Taylor won’t be resting on her laurels with her world titles on the line, and the chance to put it beyond any doubt, that she is the better fighter. One thing is absolutely guaranteed on this historic night for women’s boxing. An that’s that it will be one hell of a show!
Is the 3rd time a charm for Amanda Serrano? Or will Taylor reign supreme? We find out soon enough!
