PFL WORLD TOURNAMENT FINALS | EDWARDS Vs ROSTA | 08.21.2025

Published by Phillip Dean on August 20, 2025

This Thursday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida, the PFL is putting on another great card for our viewing pleasure. The card features the world tournament finals for the 185 and 205-pound titles, along with the recently added heavyweight world finals title fight. So we have a three-fight main card to talk about, and I’ll also list what’s in store on the undercard. Let’s get into it, people.

PFL World Tournament 10: Finals
Heavyweight Tournament Championship – Alexander Romanov (19-3, 1 NC) vs. Oleg Popov (21-2)

Alexander Romanov is a former UFC Heavyweight making his third appearance with the PFL. He comes into the final after beating Tim Johnson with a guillotine choke in the first round, before facing Valentin Moldavsky in the semi-final. Romanov advanced when the bout was declared a no-contest, as following an illegal groin shot he was rendered unable to continue. Romanov is a very good wrestler and is incredibly aggressive in his approach. He doesn’t like to involve the judges.

His opponent, Oleg Popov, has had six fights in the PFL with a record of 5-1. But unlike Romanov, he is a bit more fond of a judge’s decision. Both his other fights in this year’s tournament went to the judges, mainly due to his ultra-heavy grappling style. Expect to see this man shoot a lot of takedowns! Plus, he has a serious gas tank, and if this gets out of the first round, he arguably becomes the betting favorite to win. If you’re a fan of striking, this one might not be for you.

PREDICTION – Romanov to win by finish.

PFL 2025 Light Heavyweight Final – Antonio Carlos Junior (18-6, 2 NC) vs. Sullivan Cauley (8-1)

Antonio Carlos Junior won this tournament back in 2021 and will be hoping to get that title back around his waist. A fighter with a wealth of experience, he has arguably looked better than ever so far this season, beating Karl Moore and Simeon Powell on his way to the final. The former UFC TUF Brazil winner has improved on his feet, and as always, he is a huge threat on the ground. The BJJ Black Belt has some slick submissions that can get the win out of nowhere.

On the other side of the cage will be former Arizona State wrestler and knockout artist Sullivan Cauley. He only took one round to finish Alex Polizzi in his season opener before going the distance with Phil Davis, winning by unanimous decision. At 29, he is coming into his prime and is a fighter I really like to watch. He is “all gas and no brakes” and will look to finish you right until the final bell. This has all the makings of a great contest.

PREDICTION: Sullivan Cauley to win.

PFL 2025 Middleweight Final – Fabian Edwards (15-4) vs. Dalton Rosta (11-1)

Who doesn’t love a grudge match? I know I do. And these guys absolutely can’t stand each other.

Fabian Edwards is a striker—an extremely well-skilled one. He also puts out a ton of volume, mixing it up with head and body attacks. He absolutely destroyed former champion Impa Kasanganay in Round 1 before winning a unanimous decision over Josh Silverira in the semi-finals. Edwards also has a BJJ black belt, which surprises some, as he is not known for his mat skills, and if anything, he tends to struggle with fighters who adopt a wrestle-heavy approach.

Enter Dalton Rosta. I love this guy. He’s cocky, brash, and just rubs people the wrong way. This is a great matchup for him, as he has a strong wrestling base and will apply pressure from the top position if and when he gets you down. He took out Aaron Jeffery in the semi-finals in a fight that was razor-thin on the scorecards; before that, he submitted Sabine Sy via d’arce choke during the second round. While Rosta isn’t a better striker than Edwards, he has had some amateur boxing fights that will keep him in good stead here. A worthy main event for the season-ending card.

PREDICTION: Dalton Rosta to win.

* Featherweight: Alexei Pergande vs. Ethan Goss

* Bantamweight: Bryce Meredith vs. Lazaro Dayron

* Middleweight: Impa Kasanganay vs. Andrew Sanchez

* Light Heavyweight: Rasul Magomedov vs. Guilherme Viana

* Heavyweight: Sergey Bilostenniy vs. Karl Williams

* Middleweight: Josh Silveira vs. Murad Ramazanov

* Catchweight (175 lb): J.P. Saint Louis vs. Tyler Ray

Enjoy the violence,
Phil
