“I have decided to stop pursuing this opportunity” Felicia Spencer Retires

Published by Dave Van Auken on April 16, 2023

Just days after her 31st birthday, Felicia Spencer has informed the UFC, “I am done chasing this opportunity.” The UFC featherweight title challenger, Felicia “FeeNom” Spencer, is walking away from active competition and transitioning to new adventures. Just under a month ago, Spencer won in phenomenal fashion with a third round TKO of Leah Letson at UFC Vegas 42. “I started all this in my early twenties and told myself I wanted to be done by age 30,” Spencer said.

Felicia Spencer, has been the backbone of the UFC’s featherweight division since it’s inception. Spencer entered the UFC as the Invicta FC Champion and with a 6-0 record. Spencer will leave the UFC with a 3-3 record under the banner, sharing 25 minutes in the cage with the two weight class Champion, Amanda Nunes, and 15 minutes with Cris Cyborg. Felicia sprung herself into the limelight with a “Rocky Balboa” performance at UFC 240 against Cyborg, which could be considered one of greatest fights in the history of the UFC.

Felicia Spencer is planning to stay involved with the MMA community though coaching, podcasting and possibly joining commentary. With Spencer’s work ethic and personality there is no doubt she will flourish.

Personally, I will miss watching Spencer preform as she has been an absolute joy to watch in the cage. Simply put, thank you Fee!

Here is Felicia Spencer’s full statement:
“I have decided to stop pursuing this opportunity and have no intention to continue fighting. I felt as good as I’ve ever been in my last fight, and know I could have more great performances, but after 18 fights, including a few “wars,” I know in my heart for my future mental health that I shouldn’t be in more of those wars. In the fight game that isn’t guaranteed, and I’ve shown myself that I won’t give up in the cage, so I need to protect myself by just not stepping in there. I’m thinking about myself and family 25 years from now. Mental health is an important consideration in my family.”
