EXCLUSIVE: Jorge Masvidal Bets $100k on “The Diamond” at UFC 291

UFC 291 is here! And it is arguably the best card of the year to date.

On card that ranges from Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson doing battle with Bobby Green, to Alex “Poatan” Pereira making his highly anticipated (and slightly terrifying) move up to light heavyweight, and everything in between, this is truly one of the most stacked cards in recent memory. But the main event features a truly epic BMF title fight between Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier and Justin “The Highlight” Gaethje – and one man wants a piece of the action.

In a Fight Bananas exclusive, we can confirm that the current, incumbent BMF champion – Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal – has made a massive prediction on who he thinks will win. Masvidal has placed a massive bet of $100,000 on his good friend (and ATT teammate) Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier to beat Justin Gaethje for a second time.

Poirier and Gaethje last met in 2018 in Glendale, Arizona, in a fight that was easily one of the best of the year. In that back-and-forth brawl, Poirier ended up victorious following a (typically) violent KO. Given that both Poirier and Gaethje are ranked No. 2 and No. 3 at lightweight respectively, it seemed inevitable that these two would meet again eventually. Now that they reunite with the BMF title on the line, no one can deny that these two are more than worthy of competing for a title of that name.

Do NOT miss UFC 291 on Saturday night, coming to you LIVE from Salt Lake City, Utah! Will Jorge Masvidal’s bet come up good, or do you think he made a mistake in making such a big bet on Poirier? Will the pressure once more produce the Diamond? Make sure to watch UFC 291 on Saturday night to find out!

[Scratches record] Yeah, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I ended up here…or not. My name’s Keelin McNamara, and I am an AVID combat sports fan. Always have been, and probably always will be. I started writing and podcasting about MMA in the Summer of 2020 (yeah, we don’t talk about that here either). I’ve been doing it ever since, and have loved every single minute of it! Thanks for checking out whatever it is you’re reading – I hope you enjoy it!
