DWCS | SEASON 8 | WEEK 4 | QUICK PICKS ARTICLE
Hello fight fans! It’s season 8 of Dana Whites contender series and week 4 is about go off! Let’s get into a little quick picks article, with some fun bets to boot! LETS F*%KING GO!
1st up we head to the lightweight division.
QUILLAN SALKILLD V GAUGE YOUNG.
Both these guys come in with similar records and this fight should set us off nicely for an exciting night of fights. Salkilld trains with Cody Haddon who won earlier on in this seasons show. He’s won his last 6 fights since his pro debut loss.
Gauge Young fights out of Ignite Jiu Jitsu and has an overall record of 8-1, winning his last 3.
Salkilld is the betting favourite here. He’s a well rounded fight, but will give up a disadvantage in the wrestling department to Gauge Young. However he has a solid BJJ game and is great off his back.
PICK — Salkilld to win via finish @ -105.
Ladies are on deck.
SHANNON CLARK V YUNEISY DUBEN
Some of you might remember Shannon Clark from a viral video where her opponent wet herself in the LFA cage. Clark locked in a bulldog choke and the rest is history. Well, other than the viral video!
On paper this looks like a solid fight for Clark. But it isn’t. It’s a complete lay up designed to make her look good, whilst bringing her into the UFC. Dubens record is 4-0 as a pro. But she’s never fought anyone remotely decent. Clark will destroy her. I can’t even jazz it up.
PICK - Clark to win via KO @ +162.
We keep it moving to fight 3 and the 145lb division.
AUSTIN BASHI V DORIAN RAMOS.
If you thought the Clark fight was a lay up, then you ain’t seen nothing yet. Dorian Ramos comes in on short notice after Bashis original opponent pulled out due to injury.
Bashi has a great ground game and whilst not the most powerful striker he is lightening quick. Couple that with Ramos having questionable defence against wrestlers, Bashi should be able to punch his ticket to the UFC with a win here.
PICK - Bashi to win in RD1 @ +225.
Time for a co main event in the 185 division.
WILL CURRIE V DJORDEN SANTOS.
Cagewarriors fans will remember Will Currie for his run with the promotion. He is riding a 3 fight winning streak since his loss to Mick Stanton for CW gold. Santos fights out of Brazil and like Currie is more of a grappler, but he will enjoy the striking advantage here. Plus Santos has a solid TD defence.
Will Currie is a big favourite at -350 and whilst he should win I can’t back him at that price. Santos is very much a live dawg in this one, so I’ll throw a little cheddar on the Brazilian to get it done.
PICK - Santos to win @ +260.
Best break out the main event!
IGOR CAVALCANTI V SEOK HYUN KO.
Two welterweights close out this week’s card, in what simply put, should be a fire fight. Both these guys bring the heat, neither like to let the judges get involved, and it could be whoever lands first gets the win.
Igor has never gone the distance with a 9-0 record. Ko is 10-2 with 6 wins coming via KO. Both his loses are by KO too. Judges can have the night off.
I really like Igor. The only question I have about him is what happens if it’s goes past RD1? As he’s never been out of the 1st. Could he gas? Maybe. But I don’t think we find out tonight. Igor is going to keep the RD1 streak alive!
PICK - Cavalcanti via KO @ -138
Enjoy the violence.
