BETTING BANANAS – UFC 316

Now then fight fans. Who’s excited for this weekends UFC card? Everyone! Thought so. We head to the Prudential centre in Newark for a bantamweight title rematch taking the headline slot. Sean O’Malley looks to get his title back from the Georgian juggernaut Merab Dvalishvili. Plus we have a stacked undercard, along with a great co-main event in Kayla Harrison v Julianna Pena for the ladies 135 pound gold. Let’s get into it.
The Bananas Banker – Lipski Da Silva v Cong Wang O 2.5 RDS -130.
Ariane Lipski Da Silva is a veteran of 27 fights, with 13 of those coming in the UFC, and last time out managed to survive 2.5 rounds with the surging Jasmine Jasudavicius. So I’ll happily take this price that she can do the same against the “Joker” Cong Wang. Don’t get me wrong, Wang can finish fights. But that tends to be against opposition who are of a lower grade to Lipski. She won her last fight by decision, going 3 rounds with Bruna Brasil. So at -130, you can sign me up for my biggest play of the night. BOOM!
We move right along to our leaders pick of the week! As Dave Van Auken makes his play. As it happens, it also includes Ariane Lipski Da Silva!
Dave’s Dart 🎯- Ariane Lipski Da Silva to win +399.
Now this price has come down. Meaning money is coming in. It was as high as +450 earlier in the week, and if you shop about you might get closer to that than what I took with BetUS. I like this pick. A veteran like Ariane shouldn’t be anywhere near this price in a 2 horse race. Especially not against someone so untested like Wang Cong. Plus, I see it going to the judges and let’s face it, when they are involved anything can happen! Let’s see if it hits!
Next up, let’s see who I like for the best underdog of the card!
The Top Dog – Sean O’Malley to win +222.
Now hear me out. I know most are expecting Merab to just rinse and repeat his tactics from the first fight with great success. But I think Sean will be better prepared for this one. His ego appears to be gone. He’s abandoned the “Suga” persona, his surgery was a success, and overall he is taking this fight much more seriously. Will it make a difference? Perhaps. At odds of +222 I’m willing to risk a bit to find out. Sean is a lethal striker, and if this stays on the feet for any amount of time, don’t be shocked if he knocks Merab out. Few expected him to spark Sterling out like he did. If it’s the best version of Sean O’Malley then this price is wild. Merab bettors beware. Merab can’t look any better than he did in fight 1. Sean can look twice as good. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Last but not least, I give you my favourite prop bet of this card!
Prop of the card – Serghei Spivac to win via Submission +330.
Thats right! The Polar Bear is going to decimate Waldo Cortes-Acosta and add to his 8 career submission wins. Because when this one hits the mat, it’s all over. The skill gaps huge in the grappling department. Even if Where’s Waldo has improved a bit, he’s easy prey for Spivac once he gets him down. An he will get him down. It’s a happening! Might even sprinkle the 1st round submission along with it. Lock it the F in. 🙂
Enjoy the violence gang.
